Devon - South & North

The week started out as an average week with variable weather. We both had to go to work and the opportunity to get out was limited.

When we moved to Devon we were always aware that we had family in the north. We had always planned at some time to visit and were surprised to receive a call whilst having dinner
with friends Donna and Marcus in Dick & Will's on Saturday evening. The call topped the week for us with an impromptu dinner invitation and an opportunity to meet up with Pete's uncle Brian and some of his family.

Julie was doing a stint at the Deli on Sunday so we agreed to drive to South Molton for a late dinner at Chris and Cora's. It was great to see Brian and Jean and their other son Darryll and his wife Chloe, fresh from her London Marathon triumph of last weekend. Finishing is a triumph in my book and to raise £3000 is no mean feat either - well done Chloe.

The rest of the week was, as I said a bit average, with the weather nothing much to write home about. It did keep us in on a couple of evenings, as it looked extremely iffy, however, the clouds were quite dramatic and we had a couple of very good sunsets.

We again managed to walk Rufus a couple of times this week, albeit brief walks, and it is a real pleasure.

It's the May Day holiday tomorrow, so I expect we'll find something to do, but the grass needs to be cut and there are a few other bits Pete want to complete for work. The weather is supposed to be good so we should have a good day regardless.

It is a great place to live and I had that very conversation in your pub on Saturday night.

We are enjoying Salcombe very much and although we are not pushing for them opportunities seem to be coming our way, which is nice, along with a growing band of friends.

Thanks for the feedback on the photos. I try to get out and take a few (4000 since we've been here - 01/01/09) and would have to say that I've never seen the same view twice, what with the changes in the light and weather.
